This massive concrete planter at Meridian and Main streets in downtown Lebanon, emplaced during a beautification project more than 20 years ago, may be irreplaceable, Lebanon Street Superintendent Larry Lee said. The planter, about three feet high, was destroyed in a hit-and-run accident Thursday morning. Police tracked down the truck, Lee said, and issued him some tickets, but additional information about the driver was not immediately available. “We’ll probably never find another one of this kind,” Lee said. He estimated damage, including time spent by a street department crew to remove the planter and soil, at $1,270, with $1,070 of that for the planter itself. The planter will be replaced by two smaller ones, until a replacement can be found.
