Hot chocolate and spare change

Lebanon — The teens were participating in Volunteen Week at the library, giving out free hot chocolate and accepting donations for the Shalom House. Nicole Thompson, young adult librarian, said the teenagers wanted to do something for Thanksgiving, so she decided to create a week of volunteering. Monday they wrote letters to soldiers overseas. Tuesday they served dinner at the Shalom House. Wednesday they served nachos to the library staff. And Thursday and today, they are giving out hot chocolate and accepting donations for Shalom House. "This is a way for them to volunteer and get out there in the community," Thompson said. "It's definitely something we want to make a yearly thing, and they really like it."
