Settlement allowed officer to resign

A Whitestown police officer approved for dismissal by the Board of Police Commissioners in 2011 negotiated a resignation agreement with the town and police officials in June 2012, the settlement document shows. Sergeant Chris Nelson was accused of conduct injurious and detrimental to the police department at the time, but under terms of the resignation agreement, the complaints against him were dismissed.
