Four Boone County Habitat owners pay off mortgages

Lebanon — Four families that built homes through the Boone County Habitat for Humanity program now own those dwellings free and clear.

Shirley Martin, Gloria Wells, and Karen Gochenour, and Tammy and Juan Echeverria have achieved the dream of paying off their mortgages.

“In today’s economic environment, it is very rare to see a homeowner pay off their mortgage,” said Deb Clark, a Habitat for Humanity board member. “Our Habitat families understand the importance of home ownership and work hard in all areas of their lives to make that a reality for themselves.”

The Gochenours moved into their home in 1993.
