Eagles place second, Tigers 19th at loaded Trojan Invite

If the first week of the regular season is any indicator on how the rest of the season will go, the Zionsville Lady Eagles golf team may be in-line for a special season. Although their tournament win streak came to an end Saturday afternoon at the extremely tough Trojan Classic at the Legends of Indiana, the Eagles shot a program best score at the state tournament site, 308, and placed second in an event that featured 13-ranked teams and seven in the top-10. "I am pleased," Zionsville head coach Jeff Anderson said. "What is really encouraging is I saw a lot of shots that we left on the course. I know 308 is a good score for us today, but we are capable of doing better, so that is really encouraging." Zionsville finished 10 shots behind No. 2 Penn, which fired an outstanding 298. Third-ranked Valpo (310), No. 1-ranked Carmel (310) and fifth-ranked Hamilton Southeastern (313) rounded out the top-5. Anderson said while extremely happy with the score, which he said was 18 shots better than any score Zionsville has had at the Legends, he knew the girls could even shoot better.
