Senior-laden Lebanon ready to contend

With 10 seniors and eight returning starters, the Lebanon boys soccer team expects to be a strong squad as they enter the the 2013 campaign. Head coach Ryan Tucker said that the team has strong bonds with one another that we help them on the field. "We have been going at it for about three weeks with team camp, fitness camp and tryouts," Tucker said. "This is really our first week of full practice. What we have seen is I think this team — more than some of my others have played together for a long time. They have good team unity, good team spirit and they are really supportive and push each other to get better each day. There isn't a lot of cliquey, snottiness that you get sometimes, so it is really fun to work with them." With all the returning players, Tucker said all the players know what it takes to be successful in the program. "The good thing is they already know the expectations of this team and this program," Tucker said. "We started talking about the team and realized that my assistant Nick Hyatt, has actually coached some of them since six grade. So they have played with each other that whole time with the coaching staff. Hopefully they translates to success on the field." Tucker said the team will officially sit down Thursday and come up with team goals. But for him, the keys are always winning the conference and the Lebanon Invite. Tucker said he expects the Sagamore Conference to be really competitive. For more of this story, read Friday's Lebanon Reporter.
