Lebanon continues fast start to conference play

Lebanon — The Lebanon baseball team knew Saturday’s game against Tri-West was going to be a good test for their ball club.

They answered the bell. The Tigers scored three runs in the fifth to break open a tie game and topped Tri-West 5-3.

“They were the Hendricks County champions, so coming in we knew they were a good team,” Lebanon head coach Rick Cosgray said. “Once again, we just had to play steady over seven innings and we did that.”

Lebanon scored in the first on an RBI-single by Travis Herrin and again in the third on an RBI-single by Michael Spolyar.

But Tri-West scored once in the second and another in the third to knot the score at 2.

Lebanon took control in the fifth.

Jackson Bennett led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on walk by Coty Edwards.

Ryan Reese followed with a single to score Bennett and make it 3-2.

Herrin reached on a fielders choice that forced Edwards at home, and after a pop-out, Nathan Kincaid singled home Reese to extend the lead to 4-2.

Herrin later scored on an error.
