If there was any fear that the Western Boone Lady Stars basketball team would have a letdown following its first loss of the season, that was quickly erased Tuesday night.
The Stars blew out Fountain Central 69-19 to improve to 2-1 on the season.
“Our goal after Friday night was to just worry about ourselves and get better,” Western Boone head coach Rich Schelsky said. “Teams like Westfield will expose your weaknesses and they did that to us Friday. We worked hard at those things on practice on Saturday and Monday and I am really pleased with how we played. Fountain Central is young and inexperienced and from start to finish we played hard.”
It was Western Boone’s 10th-straight win against the Mustangs.
The Stars led 18-6 after one and 40-13 at the half.
The defense effort was even better in the second half, as the Stars gave up just three points in each of the third and fourth quarters.
