Lacrosse duo competes on national stage

Zionsville — Zionsville lacrosse players Nate Reinhart and Ben Sherman were recently selected to play at the 2012 National Lacrosse Classic held in Boyds, Maryland – an event that spanned over four days at the beginning of July.

Their inclusion gave them the honor of being named 2012 Brine National High School All-Americans.

They came together with 400 other individuals to form 16 teams to try and become the 2012 National Champion and to qualify to compete for an International Championship later in the year.

After trying out among hundreds of other high school lacrosse players in their region, Reinhart was selected to play for the Ohio Team and Sherman for the Illinois Team.

The Illinois team lost early on, but Reinhart helped lead the Ohio Team to the Final Four where they lost to eventual champion Rochester 7-6 after a last minute goal. Playing in the backfield, Reinhart had a couple assists over the tournament’s span.

Reinhart’s team also competed in an exhibition game against the International Canadian team as a warm up for the 2012 Federation of International U19 World Championship in Finland.

It was Reinhart’s first year competing and he hopes to partake again next year.

“I had a great time out there and I’d like to be out there again,” Reinhart said. “It was a great experience and I met a lot of new, cool people out there.”
