In the opening game of the IHSAA Class 4A Girls Basketball sectional at North Central Zionsville ran into a buzz saw.
Fishers, who doubled up Zionsville 64-32 during a regular season meeting in December, performed even better the second time around.
The Tigers placed four starters in double figures and started the game by scoring the first 11 points of the ballgame to cruise to a 67-29 win, eliminating the Eagles with a 7-14 final record.
“The game just started off bad and it really didn’t get any better,” Zionsville coach Andy Maguire said. “They are a lot better than the first time we played them. We tried to switch defenses on them and tried to defend screens better but no matter what we tried to do they had an answer. They were just the much better team tonight.”
Fishers (18-4) blitzed the Eagles from the opening tipoff, running out to an 11-0 lead after just 2:40.
