---- — Some times losses in basketball come from great teamwork by the other team.
Other times, a great individual effort is what does a team in. On Thursday night at Speedway, it was an individual effort that took down the Western Boone Stars.
Speedway senior guard Jordan Furlow exploded for 35 points, hitting 15 of 23 shots from the field, as Speedway earned a comfortable 77-59 victory over Western Boone.
"He's just a really, really good player," Western Boone Scott McClelland. "He is definitely a college basketball player and will play somewhere next season. He has really matured as a player in the last year and is a bad matchup for us."
Furlow scored from a variety of ways. He connected on a pair of 3-pointers, scored off of offensive rebounds and back-cuts, three times had steals that led to dunks, and was generally unguardable.
Furlow's first 3-pointer gave Speedway the lead for good at 5-3 with 7:11 left in the first period and he finished with eight first quarter points as Speedway led 20-10 after one.
