Four county wrestlers headed to state finals

---- — Each of the three Boone County schools will be sending wrestlers to this weekend's state championships.

Lebanon's Kellen VanCamp (145 pounds), Western Boone's Jonathan Morales (182 pounds), Zionsville's Jacob Aven (195 pounds) and Christian Warner (220 pounds) all advanced out of the semi-state and to Banker's Life Fieldhouse.

Morales had the best finish of the day, placing second in the weight class.

After opening with a pinfall victory against Caleb Cook of Tri, Morales defeated Nate Hein of Tipton 8-3 to earn his ticket to the state finals.

In the semifinals, he pinned 11th-ranked Ben Elliot of Noblesville to advance to the finals.

There, he faced top-ranked Blake Rypel of Cathedral, and lost a 10-2 decision.

Morales, ranked 20th in the weight class, will face Tristin Anglin from Columbia City in the opening round on Friday.

Lebanon's Kellen VanCamp placed fourth at 145 pounds.
