---- — The Western Boone boys swimming and diving team broke a 21-year sectional drought Saturday afternoon.

The Stars scored 352 points, topped second place North Montgomery by 37 and third place Twin Lakes by 38.

"I was very happy for the guys," Western Boone head coach Jennifer Jones said. "They worked very hard all season and they were asking throughout the meet where they stood. They swam extremely well on Thursday to put themselves in a position to win."

Twin Lakes won seven of the 12 events on the day, compared to three by Western Boone.

But the Stars depth shined to help them earn the win.

"Our depth was really good," Jones said. "Winning is great of course and you get to move on to state, and it gets you a lot of points. But with overall team points, who comes in second, third, and fourth are important. The key is getting a lot of kids in the top-8 to return in each event."
