Lebanon Boxing Club offers opportunity for youths

There is a new place in Lebanon for for people to get in a good workout.

The Lebanon Boxing Club opened in November and serves as an alternative to other options.

"I boxed when I was younger and it kept me out of trouble when I was in a spot where I probably needed help staying out of trouble," Jentry Younts, founder of the club said. "I noticed Lebanon didn't have anything outside of school activities for them to do. I definitely wanted to, rather than getting a trouble, have a place they could come. It gives the kids some place to vent, release some energy.

The club is working toward its non-profit status and is stationed in a garage at 1010 N. Jameson St. in Lebanon.

There is a $10 charge that is used "to keep the lights on." The club has two register boxing trainers in Younts and Grant Gabriel and will be an officially registered U.S. Boxing Association Club in January.

"We are small, but boxing clubs typically aren't huge," Younts said. "You get a select few kids and adults that are interested in it. We have a strong club for just starting out two months ago."

Younts said that anyone is welcome to come train at the club, and there is no requirement to compete in matches in order to be part of the club.

Younts said he hopes the club can eventually grow into a bigger facility.
