Stevens adjusting to NBA life

There was a familiar face roaming the visiting sidelines at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Sunday, Dec. 22, as the Boston Celtics took on the Pacers.

Zionsville native and Celtics coach Brad Stevens was back in Indianapolis for the first time since he left his coaching job at Butler in early January.

Despite the fact the Celtics lost 106-79, Stevens said the move to Boston has gone well for him and his family.

"Everybody has been so good to us," Stevens said. "But as you walk around town, you are still new to town. I get lost everywhere I go because the streets aren't exactly in blocks like they are (in Indianapolis). But everyone has been great to our family; it has been an easy transition, and it is a neat fan base to play in front of and for. They understand where we are and what we are trying to do."

The Celtics have a 12-17 record so far, which puts them as the eight-seed in the playoffs.

They are just one game out of first place in the Atlantic Division.

While at Butler, Stevens' teams went 168-49 — a .774 winning percentage. He said Sunday that putting games behind you is one of the adjustments he has had to make in the NBA.
