---- — The Western Boone girls basketball team knew that getting off to a good start was key in the opening round of the Twin Lakes Tournament against Taylor.
The Stars did just that, taking a 17-4 lead in the first quarter and never looking back in a 51-25 win.
"We did what we wanted to do," Western Boone head coach Rich Schelsky said. "We wanted to get off to a fast start. After that we were able to put it into cruise control and got every one a lot of minutes and got our starters rested."
The Stars led 31-7 at the half and 43-15 after three quarters.
Schelsky said it was important to get his starters rest.
"We have a big luxury of having a lot of depth so it may not have been as big of a deal for us as some other teams," Schelsky said. "But it is always nice to be able to get them rest since we are going to basically be playing three games in 24 hours."
