---- — The Class 3A No. 5 Western Boone Lady Stars gave Class 4A No. 6 Logansport all they could handle in the championship game of the Twin Lakes Invitational Saturday night.

But in the end Miss Basketball candidate Whitney Jennings and a strong third quarter by the Berries were too much for the Stars to overcome, as they lost for the first time this season, 69-60.

"The start of the third quarter, and we seem to have one of these every game, we had an offensive dry spell and didn't score very much," Western Boone head coach Rich Schelsky said. "That was my concern with playing them straight-up. I knew they were going to keep scoring. (Jennings) is so good, it doesn't matter what you try to do defensively. We were going to have to keep scoring, and we went in a scoring drought. That is basically the ball game. We were tied, they got up nine and then it was even the rest of the way out."
