North Montgomery and Western Boone boy’s basketball teams played a typical Sagamore Athletic Conference game Friday on the Chargers' home court.
With the game on the line, the Stars made all the plays and took advantage of Charger miscues to win 49-42.
Just like last week against Danville, the Stars got big game-closing performances from their experienced players.
With the score tied 41-41 with 1:00 to play, senior Braxton Porter had a three-point play the old fashioned way when he scored on a driving layup and hit the ensuing free throw.
The game never got closer as the Chargers could only muster one point the rest of the way while Western Boone connected on 5-of-6 free throws in the last 24 seconds to ice the game.
Western Boone Coach Scott McClelland was pleased with how his team played defense all night, but in particularly in the last two minutes of the game.
