---- — Zionsville’s girls’ basketball team got hot from the three-point line to start the game and never cooled off Friday night against Hamilton Heights.
The Eagles (2-1) won handily 65-48 over the Lady Huskies in a game that coach Andy Maguire said was one of the best he has seen in a while.
“We played awesome,” Maguire said. “I’m really proud of them. That’s the first time that we played really well from start to finish. We played smart. We even fought through adversity.”
Senior Kirsten Castelli agreed.
“This was a really big win for us,” Castelli said. “The past few years, we have really struggled against Hamilton Heights. This win was huge for us and will help us push through the rest of the season.”
Senior Laurie King led the Eagles with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Seniors Grace Maguire and Maddie Yott added 16 and 15 respectively.
The Eagles got off to a fiery start going up 6-0 in the first two minutes.
But, it didn’t stop there. Senior Grace Maguire scored 11 of her 16 points in the first quarter to help the Eagles to a 22-13 first quarter lead.
