The Lebanon wrestling team is ready to show the state of Indiana what they can do in the team state tournament at Westfield this Saturday.
The Tigers are coming off an impressive fifth-place overall and first-place Class 2A finish in the 32-team Connersville Holiday Tournament.
"It was a really good tournament as far as team unity goes," Lebanon head coach Derek Bocock said. "As a group we wrestled really well against some exceptional competition. Finishing fifth overall, and first in our class — we have never done that. It is a testament to our kids and the hard work they put in."
Along with the strong finish at Connersville, the Tigers have also had good performances in dual meets leading up to the team state.
"Not only did Connersville give us confidence, but we wrestled with (top-ranked) Yorktown well too even though we lost," Bocock said. "The guys have been wrestling well and they will continue to do well if they continue to do what it takes in the wrestling room. Collectively, as a group, they are doing what it takes right now."
The Tigers will open up the team state tournament against Yorktown.
