Tigers blow past Hot Dogs in middle quarters

Lebanon — Midway through the second quarter of Friday night’s Sagamore Conference girls basketball match-up, it was clear Lebanon head coach Beth DeVinney was not happy.

The Hot Dogs had cut the Lebanon lead to 25-23 with 4:09 remaining in the first half and DeVinney called a timeout to regroup her troups.

Whatever she said worked. Lebanon out-scored Frankfort 44-6 in the next nine minutes and cruised to an 83-43 victory.

“It was our attitude, it was nothing more than that,” DeVinney said when asked what changed in the run. “We are very capable of doing what we did. We played five games in seven days and we are starting to feel the results of that. We also practiced in between that and our practices are not easy. We have been going pretty hard at them, but that is good because we are ready conditioning wise for sectionals. It was just a change in attitude and demeanor.”

Lebanon never trailed in the game, but couldn’t pull away in the first quarter, leading by no more than four — a lead they would carry into the first quarter break.

The Tigers tried to pull away in the second, and after a basket by Carly Greene and a free throw by Kristen Spolyar the Tigers led 25-19.
