Brannon scores 1,000th point in Lebanon win

Rossville — It was a bit of a slow start for the Class 3A No. 7 Lebanon Tigers Friday night when they traveled north to face the Rossville Hornets.

But the Tigers turned up the defensive intensity in the second half and cruised to a 72-40 win, their sixth-straight to improve to 13-2.

“Rossville is a tough place to play, it is a small, dark gym,” Lebanon head coach Albert Hendrix said. “We got off to a slow start, but our pressure hurt them in the second half. The lead went from 34-20 to 44-22 in about two minutes.”

Hendrix said there weren’t any big changes made in the second half, just the intensity level.

“Our intensity level was much higher than it was at the start of the game,” Hendrix said. “We are still looking for those 30 minutes of strong basketball. Tonight we had about 18. We are in a tough stretch right now. We have a couple of double weekends in a row against tough teams. But this is what is going to make us better for the tournament.”

Cord Barricklow led the Tigers with 27 points while battling some foul trouble.
