Rich Mount to be recognized with Silver Anniversary Team

One of the best players to ever don the Lebanon Tigers uniform is being honored by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

Rich Mount, Lebanon Class of 1989, is one of 18 men who will be honored as part of the Silver Anniversary Team at the Hall of Fame Banquet today at the Primo Banquet Hall in Indianapolis.

"It is a great honor," Mount said in a telephone interview. "I played on the All-Stars with most of those guys and grew up playing with them. They are all great players. And my father and grandfather are both in the Hall of Fame so it is nice to be recognized by them."

Among the other members of the Silver Anniversary Team are current Purdue head coach Matt Painter and former Indiana great and current Hoosier assistant coach Calbert Cheaney.

Mount said that he has stayed in touch with Painter, who like Mount went to Purdue upon graduation. He said that he is looks forward to catching up with some of the other players.

"I really haven't kept in touch with any of the others besides Matt," Mount said. "Matt Petty (Crawfordsville) was a guy in our conference and we had a lot of good battles. Then there was a guy, Kenny Rowan who lived in Brazil, Indiana, and I remember playing against him in like seventh grade and he was already 6-2. It will be interesting to see all the guys again. We all worked really hard throughout our careers and it is a great honor for all of us."
