Stars hold off Athenians' challenge

The past two seasons, no other volleyball team has really challenged Western Boone. Entering Tuesday night's match against Crawfordsville, the Stars had won 10-straight conference matches and had only dropped one set in the process. And although Western Boone topped the Athenians in three — 25-22, 25-10, 25-22 — the match served as a good wake-up call for the Stars as they were pushed in two of the three games. "We told the girls that we just can't come and assume we are going to win," Western Boone head coach Laura Lawson said. "We have to be ready for every single point, every single set, every single match. There is a good chance we will see them again in the sectional." Crawfordsville led 20-14 in game one. Western Boone started to crawl back, eventually tying the game at 22 after back-to-back aces by Claire Fuller. For more of this story, read Wednesday's Lebanon Reporter.
