McMann, Stars sprint past Clinton Central

Dover — Last week, Western Boone quarterback C.J. McMann threw a 65-yard touchdown on the opening play of the game.

This week, he did it with his feet. McMann scored on a 62-yard run on the Stars’ first play and Western Boone never let up in a 34-7 victory against Clinton Central.

“(McMann) did a great job tonight, he came out of the gate ready to go,” Western Boone head coach Jed Richman said. “The offensive line really answered the call. We wanted to get better at the run

game and we definitely did across the board. Will Gasser, Neil Black, Ryan Borders, Tyler Hale on both side of the ball, Cody Boone and Kameron Humphreys who was in a lot at tight end. They all did a great job.”

McMann finished the game with 294 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns.

He added 75 yards through the air.

“He is a great player,” Clinton Central head coach Justin Schuhmacher said. “He does a great job of running their offense. You can tell he has some experience and gets them into the right plays when they need to. It is hard to tackle what you can’t catch.”

The Stars scored on four of their six drives (getting two touchdown runs by McMann, a five-yard run by L.V. Bowden and a 33-yard touchdown by Austin Burtner on a reverse) in the first half and out-gained the Bulldogs 315-92 in the half.
