Bruins nip Tigers in PK shootout

The Lebanon Tigers and Tri-West Bruins couldn't be separated after 94 minutes of play Tuesday night in a Sagamore Conference boys soccer match-up. So with the score tied 1-1, the two teams went into the crap shoot that is a penalty kick shootout. The Bruins were just slightly better in the shootout, winning 5-4 and handing Lebanon their second conference loss. "It doesn't really tell the story of the game," Lebanon head coach Ryan Tucker said. "I think shootouts are really unfair — I think everyone agrees that it is an unfair way to decide a game, but that is the way it happens. It is what it is. Best of luck to them and we will shake it off and move forward." The shootout was tied at 2 apiece after the first two rounds, with Lebanon's Will Mock and Cameron Crowe making shots for Lebanon, while Logan Stroup and Kyle Kirby made shots for Tri-West. In the third round, Lebanon's Colin Northcutt's shot was saved by Tri-West's Lucas Rutherford, while Joey Pfeifer barely squeaked a shot past a diving Jonas Gustavson.
