The Lebanon baseball team made sure there wasn’t any senior night jitters on their team Tuesday night.
The Tigers pounded Southmont 20-1 to improve to 10-3 in the Sagamore Conference.
“When you can send a senior to the mound, you are always confident they will be focused and have their best stuff,” Lebanon head coach Rick Cosgray said. “Travis (Herrin) was very good tonight even though had to get back out there after sitting for some long innings. He found the strike zone. All three of our seniors have done a great job in their careers and this year as seniors. They are good kids that have dedicated themselves to the program and it is great to see them go out like they did tonight.”
Lebanon took control of the game in the first inning.
Isaac Harker reached on an error to lead off the game and scored when Ryan Reese doubled two batters later.
Herrin followed with a triple to make it 2-0 and later scored on another error to make it 3-0 after the first.
After keeping the Mounties at bay in the top of the second, Lebanon pulled away further in the second.
Harker drew a one-out walk, and after strike out, Reese blasted a 2-run homer to make the score 5-0.
Herrin followed with a solo shot to make it 6-0 and the Tigers were on their way.
The game was put out of reach in the third.
