Tigers spoil Bruins’ senior night

Lizton — The Lebanon Tigers baseball team didn’t get a share of the conference title (first-place Crawfordsville routed Frankfort 12-2), but they did continue their hot streak late in the season.

Lebanon made sure the Tri-West seniors didn’t enjoy their final home game, topping the Bruins 8-3.

“We haven’t played many games on the road this year and when we have we haven’t played as well as we would like,” Lebanon head coach Rick Cosgray said. “It was nice to come over here against a quality opponent like Tri-West and play a really complete game.”

The score was tied at 2 heading to the third inning.

That is when the Tigers’ bats started to come to life.

Isaac Harker singled to lead off the third and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Ryan Reese, Travis Herrin (double) and Brantley Fortner followed with three-straight RBI-hits to make it 3-0.

The Bruins scored twice in the bottom half of the inning, but Lebanon went back to work in the fourth.

Michael Spolyar led the inning off with a double and after a single by Nick Starkey, Harker drove home Spolyar with a single.

With runners on second and third because of an error, Coty Edwards and Reese hit back-to-back RBI ground outs to make the score 6-2.
