Tigers not looking past Cougars

Frankfort — The Lebanon Tigers boys’ basketball team got through opening game sectional jitters Tuesday night against North Montgomery, and now turn their attention to the Cougars of North Putnam tonight at 6 p.m. at Frankfort.

Lebanon head coach Albert Hendrix said Thursday that the team is focused and ready to go.

“Practice has gone really well,” Hendrix said. “Practice was really good Wednesday and today we are getting things going getting ready to face North Putnam.”

The teams met in the opening game of the regular season, with Lebanon winning 91-37.

Hendrix said that the first game’s outcome has no factor on Friday’s game.

“It is two completely different teams,” Hendrix said. “North Putnam has really improved. They were 8-10 (finished 8-12) when I last saw their record. I think they have had a good season for what they have started with. When it comes to the sectional, it is up for grabs and you can’t take any team lightly. Certainly North Montgomery came in and played us well for a half the other night and we were fortunate to build a nice lead in the second half.”

Lebanon is 10th in Class 3A according to the computers and 51st overall. North Putnam is 90th in the class and 325th overall.

The Cougars have three players averaging in double figures — Jameson Brewer (14.2 points, 10 rebounds), Jordan Nauert (11.6 points) and Jake Haste (10.8 points and 8.1 rebounds).
