Tigers top Giants, advance to regional final vs. Park Tudor

Avon — Making its first trip to the regional in eight years didn’t phase the Lebanon Tigers boys tennis team.

The Tigers continued their hot string of play, topping Ben Davis 3-2 Wednesday afternoon in the Avon Regional semifinal.

The Tigers advance to the final 32 and the regional final today against second-ranked Park Tudor.

The Panthers defeated Brownsburg in the other regional semifinal.

“It feels great, we are really excited,” Lebanon head coach Brad Mustin said of the win. “I think the guys have surpassed their goals for the season, but it feels great to keep on extending past those goals.”

Lebanon got off to quick starts at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.

At No. 1, Josh Wright topped Jacob Volbers 6-2, 6-3 and at No. 3 Raghuram Srinivasan defeated Kyle Witt 6-0, 6-2.

“We were very similar teams,” Mustin said. “We were able to get off to really fast starts in those spots. It was a big thing for those guys to get off to good starts and for the rest of the team to see that. There were no nerves.”

The Tigers third point came at No. 2 doubles.

Cameron Hudson and Nick Wright won a tough first set 7-6 against Bryce Hernly and Tyler Schaffer, then won the second set easily 6-0.
