The Zionsville girls tennis team is in the midst of a tough stretch in which they play five matches in 48 hours.
It didn’t seem to affect them Friday, when they topped Lebanon 5-0 at Zionsville West Middle School.
“I thought we played extremely well,” Zionsville head coach Matt Moore said. “This is our second match in what is going to be five in a 48-hour period. Our goal today was to play poised and focused and play as quick as we could to save energy for tomorrow. In singles play, we did a good job of controlling the baseline. In doubles, play we did a good job with our net volleys and controlling serves.
For Lebanon, it was just their third dual match of the season.
Given that the Tigers haven’t been on the court as often as the Eagles, head coach Lisa Erwin saw positives in her team’s performance.
“They did OK,” Erwin said of her girls. “We are behind them in terms of preparation because we have only had three matches and they have had six. Our girls played them pretty close for being behind. We saw some adjustments we could make.”
