The Lebanon Merchants improved to 2-0 on the season Wednesday night at Lebanon’s Memorial Park behind a strong pitching performance from Collin Armold.
The lefty through a complete game nine-hitter and the Merchants won 6-3 against the Midwest Tomahawks.
The Tomahawks scored two runs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead, but Armold took over after that.
He allowed just three singles in the next five innings. The Tomahawks hit four singles and scored one run in the ninth, but the game was never in doubt.
Lebanon got within a run in the bottom of the third, when Andrew Eiler led off with a walk and would score on a wild pitch with two outs.
The Merchants took the lead in the fourth.
Derek White led the inning off with a single. Jake Wuerfel hit a grounder to third, but the third baseman’s throw to second sailed into right field and allowed the runners to be safe at second and third.
Tyler Owensby followed with a single to score White and tie the game.
