Indianapolis — The Western Boone student athletic trainers spent Tuesday and Wednesday this week at a student trainer workshop, learning different techniques and interacting with other student trainers.

The students from Western Boone — Alexa Freeman, Emma Klingensmith, Paige Poole, Madd Riegel, Paige Thomerson and Pate Thomerson — joined other student athletic directors from Bishop Chatard, Brebeuf Jesuit, Indian Creek, Park Tudor, Roncalli, Scecina, University and Zionsville at St. Vincent’s Sports Performance in Indianapolis.

“It was a student trainer workshop to give them an opportunity to learn, to get some experience, to give them a chance to see how athletic trainers at other schools might do things,” Zionsville head athletic trainer Nancy Lafon, who helped organize the event. “It was staffed by our athletic trainers and a couple of interns. It was a good chance for them to meet other kids, see how trainers can do things differently and gain knowledge.”
