Lebanon ends losing skid by topping Hamilton Heights

Lebanon — The Lebanon Tigers could not ask for a better start Friday night if they wanted to end their three-game losing streak before the state tournament started.

Lebanon scored the first 15 points of the game against Hamilton Heights at Rosenstihl Gym on their way to a critical 60-52 win.

“We knew we had to defend well tonight because they shoot the ball well on the perimeter,” Lebanon coach Albert Hendrix said. “(Alex) Etherington is such a good player. He can play inside or out and Nick Starkey did a great job of keeping him in check in the first half.”

Etherington, an Indiana All-Star candidate and younger brother of Austin Etherington of the Indiana Hoosiers, was held to 4 of 14 shooting and only 12 points, four of which came in the first half as Starkey was constantly draped all over him.

Etherington was not the only Huskies (11-8) player that could not get going in the first quarter.

Hamilton Heights was just 1 of 10 from the field in the first eight minutes and trailed 15-2 after one period of play.

The Tigers blitzed them for the first 15 points before Conley Hoover finally got them on the board with 2:35 to play in the quarter.
