Tigers trounce Herron on senior night

Lebanon — The Lebanon Tigers boys soccer team is peaking at the end of the season.

The Tigers blew out Indianapolis Herron 8-1 Thursday on senior night, making it four wins in their final six games

“It is a fun night,” Lebanon head coach Ryan Tucker said. “We had a lot of support out here, the band was here playing and I think we sent the seniors out in a good way tonight. It was fun to watch.”

Lebanon scored 29 seconds into the game and led 5-1 at halftime.

Nathan Kincaid had a hat trick in the first half and Lebanon also got goals from senior Jacob Turner and Will Mock.

Tucker said scoring early and often in the first half helped relax the team.

“We have never played them before, so I didn’t know their level,” Tucker said of Herron. “But hats off to them, they played hard the entire game, never gave up and when you score 29 seconds into the game hopefully it takes the pressure off and you can enjoy the evening.”

Jacob Bashor, Turner and goalkeeper Jake Dulhanty (who played forward the final 10 minutes of the game) all scored in the second half to provide the final margin.

After losing to Danville 4-0 Sept. 17 and tying Greencastle 0-0 two days later, the Tigers have rattled off three-straight wins, topping Southmont and Sheridan before Thursday’s win/

“The last two games that we played we have done a really good job of passing and moving off the ball,” Tucker said. “We have been really unselfish, it is probably the best I have seen us play all year long. That is good for us, because we head into the sectional I feel like we are peaking. We are playing unselfish and motivated.”

“It has been fun to watch this team grow,” Tucker said. “We have improved throughout the year. The veteran leadership is definitely there, but what is really nice is to see the younger kids improve and step up. They are at a pretty good level to match the upper classmen.”

The Tigers honored four seniors at during the game- Dulhanty, Turner, Phillip Skillington and Jacob Turner.
