Veteran offense to lead Lebanon

With 10 senior starters on offense, and one of the top quarterbacks in Indiana, the Lebanon football team expects to have a strong offense this fall. Head coach Kent Wright believes that talent can help lead the Tigers to the Sagamore Conference title. "Our goals are always to win conference and that is where we start," Wright said. "We expect to win every game and that is the way you have to go into it. We truly feel like we have a chance to be one of the top teams in the conference. " The Tigers finished 6-5 last season, falling to eventual state champion Cathedral in the sectional. Wright said he likes what he has seen from this group so far in practice. "We have seen a pretty good blend of the team," Wright said. "We have good chemistry going on and the kids getting along and are helping each other. I really feel like we have improved the last couple of weeks and got better each day in practice. Hopefully that continues." The Tigers scrimmaged against Brebeuf Jesuit last Friday. As the scrimmage went on, the Tigers continued to get better. "It was good to hit someone else for the first time to be honest with you," Wright said. "We got used to going through the motions a little bit just hitting each other. And that is way we started the scrimmage at the beginning. But as it went on, we picked up the momentum a little bit and played a lot better toward the end." For more of this story, read Wednesday's Lebanon Reporter.
