WeBo blows out Rossville

The Western Boone boys soccer team had no problems bouncing back from a tough overtime loss to Frankfort last week. The Stars easily handled Rossville 6-1 to improve their record to 2-1. "We were in control from the beginning," Western Boone head coach Mike Schlemmer said. "We wanted to have a strong possession game, because that is something that we are going to have to do in the sectional. I think we did a pretty good job of that." The Stars had a heartbreaking 4-3 overtime loss to Frankfort last week, but Schlemmer said they were able to put that behind them and learn from it. "These guys never say die and are always looking forward," Schlemmer said. "That is a characteristic of a good team. We took a lot away from that Frankfort game. It was a tough, physical game and emotional. But we didn't hang our heads. We knew it was a war and we showed ourselves well in the way we played. The result wasn't what we hoped for, but the effort and skill were there." Western Boone staked claim to a 2-0 lead in the first half, getting goals from Alex Glidewell and Daniel Collins.
