Tigers have "Wright" stuff to top Frankfort

For Lebanon football, defeating Frankfort is becoming a yearly tradition as Friday night’s 21-6 win marked the sixth-straight over their rivals to the north. The more remarkable feat was starting the season a perfect 5-0. The last 4-0 start came way back in 1958, so it’s clear this group of Tigers are treading into new territory for Lebanon football. It has also been clear how they are getting it done – old school, smash mouth football. “We are definitely excited,” said Lebanon head coach Kent Wright of his teams’ 5-0 start. “I think the biggest difference this year is having our guys healthy so we can start the same unit every game – knock on wood.” Those units he is referring to are his offensive and defensive lines as both have worn opponents down throughout the course of a 48-minute game. Scott Land, Eli Kaser, Keith Martin, Cody Bauer and Strand Barricklow have been the engine that powers the Lebanon rushing attack. Much like last week at Southmont, Lebanon’s offense stumbled out of the gate. First factor in the prospect of facing a Frankfort team that runs a similar offensive attack and then add in the elements and you had the makings of a closely contested and quick first half. The teams started by trading a pair of punts and while Isaac Harker has been effective for the Tigers, Hot Dog kicker Evan Giebel dominated the exchange and allowed Frankfort to win the battle of field position.
