Chargers end Tigers' bid for perfection with 14-10 decision

For the third straight season the North Montgomery Chargers defeated Lebanon on the gridiron, but this one might hurt just bit more than usual as the Chargers (5-2) put an end to Lebanon’s (6-1) perfect start to the 2013 campaign. It was another low scoring, hard fought battle that came down to the final play, but the Chargers defense held on for the 14-10 victory “I think this adds more pressure as now we have to win out these next two weeks in order to guarantee a share of the conference,” said Lebanon head coach Kent Wright. The 14 points put up by North was the most given up by the Tiger defense all season, but Friday night it was a stingy Charger defense that deserves credit for the win. However, before we get ahead of ourselves enamored with all this defensive talk, the first quarter began as if we were watching a track meet. North took the opening kickoff and in just three plays had gone 84 yards to paydirt. The touchdown came on a third-and-five as quarterback Jalen West found running back Joel Kauth free down the right seam. The pass was only in the air for roughly eight yards, but as Kauth turned it up field there was no safety deep down the middle for the Tigers.
