Tigersharks continue to roll

Lebanon — The Lebanon Lady Tigersharks only won four of the 12 events Thursday night in their meet against Cathedral.

But the girls showed their depth in still beating the Irish 99-84 to improve to 7-0. The male Tigersharks won more handily, taking a 118-65 decision.

“The key for a dual meet is to never finish sixth,” Lebanon head coach Michael Dollens said. “Because even if you finish fifth, you get one team point. We only play to 94, so every single point is about one percent of the way to a win. Our lane 1 did really well today and the back half of our meet was really good for the girls. The boys swam well all day. They had 27 lifetime bests, swimming a pretty good lineup for us, so it wasn’t like they were swimming events they haven’t swam. That was really good to see.”

Dollens said the difference in the backhalf of the meet was a meeting that was called during the diving.

“During diving, we hadn’t had a good start to the meet and a few of the captains got the kids together and excited,” Dollens said. “We say that cheering creates energy, it doesn’t take energy. The more we cheer for each other, usually the better we swim. If you are a 16-year-old kid and can’t race twice in six minutes — I think you can do that. Our kids did a nice job of that and cheering them really helped that. The butterfly was good, then the 100-free was really good, then it snowballed from there.”

Gabi Reese led the girls with two victories on the day.
