Stars just miss regional title
The Western Boone volleyball season came down to a race to four points. Unfortunately for the Stars, the Brebeuf Jesuit Braves were able to dig a little deeper and scored the final four four points to win the decisive fifth set 15-11 and the regional 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-11).
Stars roll to sectional title
The goal from the beginning of the season was simple for the Western Boone volleyball team — win a third-straight sectional and make amends for two losses in the regional. The first part of the that goal was easily accomplished Saturday evening, as the Stars cruised past Crawfordsville 3-0 (25-5, 25-14, 25-16) to win their seventh sectional title and fourth in five years.
Lady Eagles earn school's first berth at state meet
The goal for the Zionsville girls cross country team was simple, yet challenging all season long — earn the school's first trip to the state finals at Terre Haute. That goal was accomplished at Carmel's Northview Christian Church Saturday morning, as the Eagles placed fourth to earn the school's first berth at the IHSAA State Finals next weekend.
Stars 3-peat as sectional champs
The Western Boone volleyball team won its third-straight sectional title in volleyball Saturday night.
The Stars defeated Crawfordsville 3-0 (25-5, 25-14, 25-16) to advance to the regional.
Stars down Tigers in semifinals
Once the Western Boone volleyball team got rolling Saturday afternoon in the sectional semifinals against Lebanon, there was little the Tigers could do to stop it.
The Stars downed the Tigers 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-9) to advance to tonight's sectional finals.
Tigers' one-two punch knocks out Plainfield
For the third consecutive season the Lebanon Tigers have advanced through the first round on sectional action. However, Friday night’s 35-24 victory over the Plainfield Quakers was a big statement win for a team that seemed to be stumbling down the stretch after dropping two if its final three regular season games.
Stars score early and often vs. Vikings
Things could not have started any better for the Western Boone football team in their sectional opener against West Vigo Friday night. Riggs Baxter took the opening kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown, and the Stars' defense forced turnovers on two of the Vikings' first three plays. That all helped the Stars jump out to a 21-0 lead and Western Boone cruised from there in a 40-22 win.
Tigers season alive after five-game victory in sectional
When it comes down to sectional time, the key is to just survive and advance. The Lebanon Tigers volleyball team did just that Thursday night, out-lasting Frankfort 3-2 (19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13).
Local teams ready for opening round
Sectional time is here for the local football teams. Two of the three teams will host opening round games this week, while Zionsville drew a bye. In Class 4A Sectional 22, the Lebanon Tigers (7-2) will host the Plainfield Quakers (4-5) in the opening
