Stars 3-peat as sectional champs
The Western Boone volleyball team won its third-straight sectional title in volleyball Saturday night.
The Stars defeated Crawfordsville 3-0 (25-5, 25-14, 25-16) to advance to the regional.
Stars down Tigers in semifinals
Once the Western Boone volleyball team got rolling Saturday afternoon in the sectional semifinals against Lebanon, there was little the Tigers could do to stop it.
The Stars downed the Tigers 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-9) to advance to tonight's sectional finals.
Tigers' one-two punch knocks out Plainfield
For the third consecutive season the Lebanon Tigers have advanced through the first round on sectional action. However, Friday night’s 35-24 victory over the Plainfield Quakers was a big statement win for a team that seemed to be stumbling down the stretch after dropping two if its final three regular season games.
Stars score early and often vs. Vikings
Things could not have started any better for the Western Boone football team in their sectional opener against West Vigo Friday night. Riggs Baxter took the opening kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown, and the Stars' defense forced turnovers on two of the Vikings' first three plays. That all helped the Stars jump out to a 21-0 lead and Western Boone cruised from there in a 40-22 win.
Tigers season alive after five-game victory in sectional
When it comes down to sectional time, the key is to just survive and advance. The Lebanon Tigers volleyball team did just that Thursday night, out-lasting Frankfort 3-2 (19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13).
Local teams ready for opening round
Sectional time is here for the local football teams. Two of the three teams will host opening round games this week, while Zionsville drew a bye. In Class 4A Sectional 22, the Lebanon Tigers (7-2) will host the Plainfield Quakers (4-5) in the opening

The Western Boone baseball team has a new man in charge. Cesar Barrientos was picked to run the Stars this season, replacing Dave Sloan, who led Western Boone to a 8-14 record a season ago.
Zionsville drops regular season finale to Avon 12-7
It has been a frustrating season for Class 5A No. 10 rated Zionsville on the football field. The Eagles have one of the state’s best defenses giving up less than 14 points per game, but the offense was only averaging 14.1 points per game.
Stars smash Tigers' title hopes
The Lebanon Tigers football team drove across the county Friday night looking to win a share of the Sagamore Conference title for the first time since 2006. Western Boone had other ideas. Logan Wethington and Riggs Baxter connected for three touchdown passes in the game and the Stars topped Lebanon for the fourth-straight time 21-17.
