Lady Stars advance to regional final in 3 OT thriller
It was a game that Western Boone and Tri-West fans will be talking about for a long time.
Fortunately for the Stars, the memories will be happy ones. The Western Boone girls basketball team out-lasted Tri-West 66-62 in triple overtime in the regional semifinals Saturday afternoon, moving the Stars onto the regional championship tonight.
Morales advances to state quarterfinals
Western Boone junior Jonathan Morales didn't want his season to end Friday night in the opening round of the IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament. Thanks to a dominating performance, it won't. Morales (38-8) controlled his match against Columbia City's Tristin Anglin from start to finish, beating the senior 19-8 to advance to Saturday's medal rounds.
Lady Stars ready for the regional Saturday
The Western Boone girls basketball team accomplished its goal of winning the sectional title on Saturday night against Lebanon. Now, they are ready for more. The beginning of that next step starts Saturday, when the Lady Stars take on Tri-West in the regional semifinal at Danville.
Stars blow past Blackhawks, win 65-50 at Sheridan
The Western Boone boys basketball team jumped out in front of Sheridan Thursday night and never looked back. The Stars led 10-1 four minutes into the game and continued to build the lead throughout the first three quarters before settling for a 65-50 victory.
Tigers fall short at Anderson, lose 67-45
Anderson made some offensive adjustments at halftime and pulled away from the Lebanon Tigers 67-45 in Anderson Tuesday night. It was the Indians' third straight victory and gave them a 9-10 mark on the season. Lebanon fell to 8-9 having lost three in a row.
Lebanon's Bauer stays close to home, signs with Marian
Lebanon senior Cody Bauer admitted that his recruiting process was "hectic" at times. Now the chaos is over. Bauer, a two-sport standout for the Tigers, signed to play football at Marian University in Indianapolis.
The past two years, the Western Boone girls basketball has been close to winning the sectional championship, only to fall to Lebanon. Saturday night, the Stars turned the tables on their rivals. Western Boone topped Lebanon 55-37 to win its first sectional championship since 2010.
Four county wrestlers headed to state finals
Each of the three Boone County schools will be sending wrestlers to this weekend's state championships. Lebanon's Kellen VanCamp (145 pounds), Western Boone's Jonathan Morales (182 pounds), Zionsville's Jacob Aven (195 pounds) and Christian Warner (220 pounds) all advanced out of the semi-state and to Banker's Life Fieldhouse.
Stars, Tigers to meet for sectional title
It will be an All-Boone County Sectional final Saturday night, as Western Boone and Lebanon both advanced earlier today.
The game will start at 8 p.m. at Western Boone, with the doors opening at 7 p.m.

The sectional semifinal games will now be played Saturday morning, with the sectional championship game still being held Saturday night.
