Percussionist Bill Bailey shares his knowledge of rhythm and beat by clapping cymbals in front of local children Tuesday at Lebanon Memorial Park. His performance was part of the Lebanon Public Library’s summer reading program. Children’s Librarian Chrissy Johnson said his performance, entitled “Hambones, Eggs, and Spoons,” was meant to teach children about music and how to make instruments out of everyday objects. “I hope (the children) learn something about percussion and rhythm and have fun,” she said. Of the reading program, Johnson said, “(I hope they learn) that reading is fun - reading isn’t boring ... they can learn about anything, from instruments, to dinosaurs, to bugs.”
