— Mrs. Elizabeth Ottinger, 83, Zionsville, died Friday, May 9, 2008, at Harbor Manor Care Center, Noblesville.
Mrs. Ottinger was born in Carmel on Jan. 2, 1925, the daughter of the late Alvin and Ruby Pearl (Pearson) Middleton.
She was a life resident of Hamilton County. She attended schools near Carmel.
She was married in Zionsville on May 25, 1952, to Russell Whittaker. Mr. Whittaker died Dec. 3, 1965. She was married in Carmel on June 16, 1973, to Russell Gerald “Shorty” Ottinger. Mr. Ottinger survives.
She had been an employee of Pitman-Moore near Zionsville for several years. She then worked as a restaurant employee in Indianapolis at Henry The VIII and then in Carmel at George’s.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. Mrs. Ottinger enjoyed her family, dancing and square dancing, and collecting angels and dolls.
She was a member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary in Noblesville.
Funeral services are to be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon St., Lebanon, with the Rev. Jack Terry officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.
Interment will follow at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Hamilton County.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Russell G. “Shorty” Ottinger, Zionsville; four children, Mr. Richard Whitmore and wife, Barbara, Westfield; Ms. Donna Mobley, Carmel, Mrs. Linda Erney and husband, Daniel, Westfield, and Mrs. Penny Hoover and husband, Joseph, Zionsville; stepchildren, Mrs. Geraldine Eldridge, Sheridan, Mrs. Ruth Ellen Hale and husband, Richard, Zionsville, Mr. Russell E. Ottinger Jr., Sheridan, and Mr. Bruce Taylor, Sheridan; a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Wachtstetter, South Bend; a granddaughter, Mrs. Lindsay Bristow and husband, Josh, Carmel; a great granddaughter, Charlotte Hoover, Carmel, and several step -grandchildren, -great grandchildren and -great-great-grandchildren.
A stepdaughter, Becky Newman, is deceased.
