John L. “Jack” Brimberry
Mr. John L. “Jack” Brimberry, 72, of Spring, Texas, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Ind.
He was born February 10, 1936, in Indianapolis, to Lloyd Daniel Brimberry and Etta Elizabeth (Smith) Brimberry.
Mr. Brimberry married Alice Caldwell on June 22, 1963, in Thorntown. They were married forty-four years and resided in Indianapolis and Houston, Texas.
He graduated in 1954 from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, and spent four years serving his country in the United States Navy. Following his service in the Navy, Mr. Brimberry attended Purdue University.
Mr. Brimberry’s career in the lumber industry spanned over forty years, where he managed the Burnett Binford and the Wolohan Lumber Companies in Indiana. He retired from the Boise Cascade Lumber Company in Houston.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His favorite pastimes included golf, fishing, and traveling to spend time with his five grandchildren. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and being a great storyteller.
He is survived by his wife; son, John L. Brimberry Jr. and wife, Erika, of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Claire Elizabeth Riley and husband, Darrin, of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Josie, Callie and Addie Brimberry, and Hayden and Nolan Riley; sister, Mary Ann Miles and husband, Anthony, of Boggstown; and sister-in-law, Lorrie Brimberry, of Apple Valley, Calif.
Mr. Brimberry was preceded in death by brother, Robert D. “Bob” Brimberry and sister, Arnetta “Nan” Hester.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at Myers Chapel of Memories at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. David Patrick officiating. Interment will be at the Wilhite Cemetery in Wingate.
