Eva “Maxine” (Spear) Dwiggins

Eva “Maxine” (Spear) Dwiggins, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at he daughter’s home in Anderson, after a brief illness.

Maxine was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Hamilton County to Carl and Grace Spear. She graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. In 1941 she married Francis "Bud" Dwiggins. Marriage took her to Tucson, Arizona, where she developed a lifelong love for the desert.

Maxine split her adult years between Indiana and Arizona, residing in Anderson for the last seven years. She attended the Church of God at West Anderson and previously attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anderson. Until very recently she resided at Southside Tower in Anderson, which she absolutely loved.

Maxine’s many talents included poetry, painting and sewing. Her work experiences included waitressing, retail sales, bookkeeping, bank accounting and gift wrapping.

Maxine is survived by her son, David (Patricia) Dwiggins of Houston, Texas; daughter, Roselynn Evans of Anderson; sister, Rosanna Shook of Venice, Fla.; sister-in-law, Marion Spear of Noblesville; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Dwiggins of New Castle; special niece, Lulu (Brian) Beach of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren Jay Self of Pearland,Texas, Lori (Joe) Rivera of Houston, Texas, Melissa (James) Herrick of Houston, Texas, Rebekah (David) Whitlock of Seattle, Wash., Jessica (Jon) Julson of New Castle, Sharon (Zach) Zimmer of Anderson, Theresa (Andy Higgins) Guerra of Indianapolis, Virginia Evans of Anderson and Bradley Evans of Indianapolis. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, Shawna, Krystal, Sarah, Lidia, Richard, Aiden, Gwynith, Trenton, Samantha, JulieAnn, Jonathan, Christine, Shaina and Brannon, along with four great-great grandchildren, Shanigan, Korigan, Aiden and Lucien. “Aunt Mac” is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and church family from coast to coast.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Francis A. “Bud” Dwiggins; two sons, William “Billy” Dwiggins and John Thomas Dwiggins; her parents, a grandson, five brothers, her mother-in-law and father-in-law; five brothers-in-laws, and a sister-in-law. She also lost several dogs.

Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan. Services will be officiated by Father Robert Williams, Pastor Jared Fields and Pastor William Soetenga. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday. Burial will take place at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God at West Anderson, 2205 Park Road, Anderson, IN 46011.
