Thelma L. Sloan

Lebanon

1940-2008

Mrs. Thelma Lorena Sloan, 88, of Lebanon, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Parkwood Health Care, Lebanon.

Mrs. Sloan was born in Forest, on May 19, 1920. She was the youngest child of the late John Edward and Zella Fern (Wright) Wright.

She was married in Maysville, Ky., on Aug. 10, 1940, to Norman “Bud” Wayne Sloan. Mr. Sloan died on June 23, 1992.

Mrs. Sloan lived in Forest, Beard, and Frankfort and she graduated from Frankfort High School in 1938. After graduating she attended beauty school and worked as a domestic servant. She worked from 1949 to 1951 at Central Coil in Indianapolis. She then worked at J & L Steel in Lebanon for 9? years, and at P. R. Mallory in Frankfort. She worked at the Trailer Factory in Thorntown before she moved with her family to Lebanon in 1960. She then worked for Stewart Warner Corp. and the Modern Cleaners until she retired in 1999.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Mrs. Sloan enjoyed her family and music. She was a member of Lebanon Bible Baptist Church, Lebanon.

Survivors include three sons Mr. Larry W. Sloan (wife Mary June) of Lebanon, Mr. Donald L. Sloan of Lebanon, Mr. William L. Sloan of Indianapolis; five grandchildren: Brad Wayne Sloan (wife Lisa) Lebanon, Vickie Ann Grinstead and (husband Andrew) Sheridan, Bret E. Sloan of Lebanon, Sean W. Sloan of Indianapolis, Chad A. Sloan and (wife Lynette) Lebanon; 10 great-grandchildren Danielle Denning (husband William) of Brownsburg, Matthew W. Sloan of Lebanon, Jacob B. Sloan of Lebanon, Lindsey RaeAnn Grinstead of Sheridan, Brock A. Grinstead of Sheridan, Alivia K. Sloan of Lebanon, Corban A. Sloan of Lebanon, Grace E. Sloan of Lebanon, Audrey D. Sloan of Lebanon, Ruth I. Sloan of Lebanon; one great-great grandchild William Rhea Denning III of Brownsburg,

She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Freda Mitchell, Mamie Vaught, and Mildred Talbert; a brother, Willis E. Wright; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Sloan.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, at Myers Mortuary 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.

Services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Myers Chapel of Memories, Pastor Dan Strong officiating.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
