Jimmy G Swails, 53, passed away July 18, 2008, from Lou Gehrig’s Disease at his home in Florida. Jimmy, with his love for the Lord Jesus Christ, accepted his disease without question. He donated his body to Mayo Clinic in Florida with the hopes of helping others with this disease.

He was born in Lebanon on March 8, 1955, to James and Carolyn Cox-Swails. His parents survive. He was a 1973 graduate of Lebanon High School and was very active in school sports.

Jimmy was a journeyman with the United Brother hood Union Carpenters in Indiana, Ohio, Mississippi and Florida. He was a n avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and the Indianapolis Colts.

Married Nov. 8, 2001, to surviving wife, Jane Elizabeth Helwig-Swails and two children by marriage, Kenneth Ray Luntsford, Michelle Renee Luntsford and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are five siblings Karen Redman and Beverly Gant, both of Lebanon, Artie Swails of Texas, Randy and Cindy Swails of Lebanon, Cinda and David Slaw of Noblesville; nieces and nephews Rod Redman, Carrie Ballard, Chris Hiland, Glenn Beasey, Brad Beasey, Melissa Leadingham, Stacey Belcher, Kayla Swails, Courtney Colson, Kelly Prater, Shane Soloman, Austin Swails and Jimmy Caldwell. He also had 19 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Ralph and Daisy “Granny” Swails and Izora Harney.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations to the missionaries of their choice and donations to Lou Gehrig’s (ALSA.com) or MDA/ALS Division.

Visitation hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and a memorial service immediately following at the First Baptist Church, 207 E. Washington St., Lebanon. Brother Billy Michael Trull from Mississippi will officiate.
