Johnny Leon “John” Vichkon
Mr. Johnny Leon “John” Vichkon, 66, of Lebanon, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at his residence in Lebanon.
Mr. Vichkon was born in Riverside, Calif., on April 18, 1942, the son of the late Gazel “Jack” Albert and Geneva Jewel (Moore) Vichkon.
He was reared and educated in California, graduating from Pomona High School. He Joined the U.S. Marines in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964.
Mr. Vichkon married Shirley Jean (Drumm) Vichkon, who died in 1982. He later married Edna Carol (Lamb) Kidwell Vichkon on Dec. 27, 1994. She preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1998.
He was a lifelong welder, working for several area fabrication companies. He retired in 2007.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his family, grandchildren and friends. He also enjoyed music, reading and taking country cruises where he would take pictures of the countryside.
Mr. Vichkon had formerly attended the Household Love and Faith Church in Lebanon. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 910 in Lebanon, the American Legion of Lebanon and the Eagles Club of Lebanon.
Survivors include one son, Tony L. Vichkon and wife, Pamela A., of Lebanon; one daughter, Tonya R. Haggard and husband, Robert “Bob,” of Avon; three grandchildren, Chad Crane, Colin Haggard and Nathan Haggard; one sister, Dorothy Webb and husband, Milton, of Elk Grove, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Jean Vichkon of Riverside, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mr. Vichkon in death are one brother, Raymond Vichkon and one grandchild, Jessica Haggard.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Myers mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral Services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Mike Goforth officiating. Internment will follow military rites at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
