Mary Ellen (Ashley) Miller, 86, of Colfax, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at her home.

She was born March 13, 1923, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Ralph L. & Irene F. (Meikel) Ashley.

She James L. Miller Jr. on June 29, 1941 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 2003.

Mrs. Miller was a 1941 graduate of Frankfort High School. She was co-owner of Miller’s’ Restaurant for 48 years, retiring in 1995. She also worked at Patrick Henry Army Base in Virginia and Eli Lilly in Indianapolis.

She was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church.

Survivors include son Meikel F. (Rebecca Rae) Miller of Colfax; grandson Louis Thomas Miller of Colfax; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Ashley and a sister, Barbara Ashley Kelch.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday until time of service at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Services will immediately follow. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.
